Characters Acting Badly with Teri Burch - ArtShop Instructor Highlight

What do The Big Bad Wolf, The Wicked Witch, Rumplestiltskin, and Giants have in common? They're all at ArtShop this week! Teri Burch is teaching the performing arts class "Characters Acting Badly." Teri has been an elementary classroom teacher for 34 years, and she has been teaching at the City of Coeur d'Alene's Summers Arts for Youth program and ArtShop for many years. Teri says she likes teaching drama classes because they offer children a time of laughter, creativity, community building, and getting out of their own personalities and trying on someone else's. What inspires her? "I am inspired by laughter, interaction between people, kindness, fun, and taking a story beyond its ending." Teri's personal creative interests are: volunteering, children’s art, reading, crafts, nature, kayaking, camping, creative cooking, watching her grandkids discover new things and find new interests, playing “Guess Where I Am” with her sister when either of them are traveling or doing something fun, and music.

ArtShop is this week, July 28-August 1, 2014, for kids grades 2 to 8. What makes ArtShop unique? It is a full week of art classes, each student participating in one visual arts class and one performance arts class, ending with the children performing at the Art on the Green festival. Watch for a performance by Teri Burch's ArtShop class at Art on the Green this Friday, August 1. What will those bad characters do this time?!
