Scratchboard Art with Robert Brunn ~ ArtShop Instructor Highlight
Robert Brunn will share the magic of scratchboard art this summer at ArtShop! Scratchboard art is a 2-dimensional, subtractive medium that involves the use of tools to directly remove a surface layer of one value (typically dark) to expose a secondary layer of a contrasting value (typically white). Kids love this class because it's like uncovering a treasure! Robert Brunn has a BS in Education from the University of Idaho, has been an Art & Photography instructor for 35 years in the Coeur d'Alene School District, the Varsity Tennis Coach at Lake City High School, and a valued ArtShop Instructor for over 20 years. Robert says, "I enjoy teaching children the art of scratchboard because it is exciting to watch them creatively learn a new technique and end up with their own personal masterpiece." What makes Robert tick? "Family is very important to me. My wife and I have been married 43 years and have raised our son and daughter in Coeur d'Alene. Our two grandchildren are the light of our lives. Traveling is another one of my passions and I've created photo books that include scenes and wildlife from around the U.S. and Europe. I also enjoy playing the drums with a group of jazz musicians, and coaching tennis gives me an opportunity to see students become self confident and improve their skills."
ArtShop is July 27-31, 2015, for kids grades 2 to 8. What makes ArtShop unique? It is a full week of art classes, each student participating in one visual arts class and one performance arts class, ending with the children performing at the Art on the Green festival.
